A Nomadic Academy learning experience is unlike any other digital learning experience. As we say in our tagline; it is truly collaborative, deeply engaging, and constantly evolving. But what does that mean in practice? How will you and your teams actually learn?

In this first in a series of blog posts on how you learn in the Nomadic Academy, we’re taking a look at Programs, which are made up of a series of modules that we call Field Manuals.

Programs

Programs are time-bound, team-based digital learning experiences. You’ll complete each Program in a team of roughly 50 fellow learners, over a 4-5 week period. Learning in Programs happens semi-synchronously. That is, users go through a Program in roughly the same time frame but during that time frame users can learn whenever they like. So we retain the flexibility of traditional online learning, but we are also able to generate meaningful collaboration because learners are in a small group, learning the same topics at the same time.

The other ingredient that makes true collaboration possible, and the experience deeply engaging, is the world-class content and innovative learning design that is found in each Field Manual in a Program.

Field Manuals

Field Manuals are Nomadic’s re-imagining of a unit of learning in an online course. Each Program in the Nomadic Academy is made up of 4-5 Field Manuals and each Field Manual takes roughly 45 minutes to complete. A Field Manual is made up of a carefully sequenced blend of text, video, polls, quizzes, and discussion-based social exercises. Each piece of content, whether it’s a video case study or a discussion prompt, is made with a commitment to the highest quality ever seen in online learning.

And the content in a Field Manual is not primarily instructional. It does teach learners new concepts and knowledge, but more importantly, the content and the way it is sequenced inspires learners to think differently and creates a space where learners can discuss ideas with their peers.

So to sum it up:

You and your team will go through the Nomadic Academy together in Programs. Each Program will take you on a journey through 4 or 5 Field Manuals, where you’ll be inspired by amazing content while you learn collaboratively with your peers. Each Field Manual in a Program will take you 45 minutes to complete, and the Program will be run over a 4 or 5 week period.
